UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and CFS advance joint action on food systems transformation
The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) are strengthening their collaboration to better support countries in turning global food systems commitments into action on the ground.
A newly agreed outline sets out practical areas of cooperation between the two entities, in line with the Hub’s mandate and building on decisions taken by CFS at its 53rd Session in October 2025. At that session, CFS called for stronger uptake of its policy products and closer collaboration with international initiatives to help translate global guidance into national action for food security, nutrition, and the right to adequate food.
The strengthened partnership brings together two complementary roles. CFS provides inclusive, evidence-based global policy guidance through its multistakeholder platform. The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub supports countries in implementing their food systems pathways, working closely with National Convenors and the wider UN system to provide tailored, country-driven support aligned with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals.
The collaboration is structured around four main areas:
- Raising awareness and engaging stakeholders
- Joint communications and dissemination
- Engagement in CFS policy convergence processes
- Knowledge management and mutual learning.
A key entry point will be the Hub’s regional meetings with National Convenors, taking place between March and May 2026. These meetings will create space to highlight how CFS policy products can support national food systems priorities and implementation.
The Hub will also contribute to relevant CFS policy convergence work, including the 2025-2026 process on Building Resilient Food Systems, bringing insights grounded in country-level implementation. The collaboration includes joint outreach to UN Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams, engagement through the Food Systems Solutions Dialogues, and coordinated participation in global and regional forums.
The focus is on making global policy guidance more usable at country level, based on science and identified needs, and informed by experience from national implementation.
