UNFSS+4 Action Day
To kick off the UNFSS+4, a dedicated Action Day will take place on Sunday, 27 July 2025, designed to spotlight real-world examples of food systems transformation, promote knowledge exchange and partnership, and inspire collective action through evidence-based solutions and creative expression.
Taking place in and around Addis Ababa, the Action Day combines field-based learning with stakeholder-led dialogues, technical sessions, and cultural engagement. The programme includes field visits, side events, high-level thematic events, and artistic and cultural displays.

Field Visits
Time: 08:00-13:00
Location: In and around Addis Ababa
Organized by the Government of Ethiopia and with the option of six field visits to choose from participants are invited to register their interest upon registration

7 side events, organized by countries, international and regional organizations and non-state actors will take place during the UNFSS+4 Action Day on the UNECA Campus.

Young People as Changemakers: How Art and Creativity are Driving Change and Sustainable Food Systems
Time: 14:00-15:30
Location: UNECA, Africa Hall
Organized by the Government of Italy, the Government of Ethiopia and the UN SDG Action Campaign, this event will trace the journey from acknowledgment of systemic inequalities to hopeful action, spotlighting youth as changemakers in food systems, including winners of the UN SDG Action Awards, through the compelling collages of the renowned Turkish artist Uğur Gallenkuş.

High Level Event on Advancing Transformation of the Coffee Value Chain
Time: 16:00-17:30
Location: Science Museum
Organized by the Governments of Italy and Ethiopia, United National Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), International Coffee Organization (ICO), Inter African Organization (IACO)
This high level event will offer a platform to reflect on the effectiveness of a sectoral food systems approach and on the actions taken at international and continental levels to unlock finance and investments aimed at accelerating the transformation of the coffee sector.
Participation
Participation in the Action Day is open to all registrants of the UNFSS+4 and access is automatically included in accreditation.
