Concept Note
Overview

The 2nd UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) is a critical opportunity to assess progress since 2021, close implementation gaps, and scale up equitable, science-based solutions for food systems transformation towards 2030. While over 100 countries have outlined national pathways, strategic implementation and impacts remain uneven. Persistent challenges—such as exclusive research priorities, narrow policy agendas, and inequitable implementation—continue to limit access to nutritious food, particularly for the most vulnerable. This event explores how science can be more effectively harnessed—transparently and inclusively—to restore accountability and scale innovations that serve both people and planet. Panelists will build shared understanding and political momentum around integrating evidence and innovation for a just transformation of food systems. A key outcome will be the articulation of commitments by food systems actors to strengthen science-policy interfaces, elevate marginalized voices, and address biased influences and trade-offs, especially in low- and middle-income countries.
