STAKEHOLDERS ACTION SESSION

Indigenous Peoples-led Session

Tuesday, 29 July 2025 | 09:00 - 10:45

Lead: Indigenous Peoples’ Representatives in the SENA and Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems Coalition
Room CR5

Concept Note
Session Overview

Indigenous Peoples have stewarded biodiverse, sustainable, and resilient food systems for generations—systems deeply rooted in knowledge, culture, and reciprocity with nature. Yet they remain structurally excluded from global food governance. This session, co-led by the Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems Coalition and the SENA Indigenous Peoples representative, builds on years of advocacy and collaboration. It will spotlight Indigenous-led practices, policies, and innovations that are shaping food system transformation from the ground up. Speakers will share perspectives from local, national, and global levels—including ancestral methodologies, co-creation of knowledge, and tools like the Indigenous Determinants of Health framework. The session is a call to action for long-term investment and partnership: to recognize Indigenous Peoples as rights-holders, center culturally grounded frameworks, and scale Indigenous food systems as evidence-based models for a healthier planet and more equitable food future.
