HIGH-LEVEL PANEL

Mobilizing High-Impact Climate Finance

Tuesday, 29 July 2025 | 15:00 - 16:20

Lead: UNEP, UNDP, FAO, and Brazil
Room CR2

Concept Note
Session Overview

This session aims to mobilize climate finance to transform agrifood systems, making them more sustainable and resilient amid climate change and resource degradation. Though agrifood systems could cut up to one-third of global emissions, they receive only 7.2% of climate finance, with high-impact areas such as livestock, crops, and smallholder farmers severely underfunded. Urgent investment is needed to protect food security and boost resilience. The session will bring together governments, financial institutions, private sector leaders, farmers’ organizations, and development partners to explore innovative financing tools, including concessional finance, guarantees, and debt instruments. It will also highlight initiatives such as the School Meals Impact Accelerator and the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty, and examine how to align climate finance with social protection and inclusive food systems transformation.
