PROJECT TITLE

Strengthening Markets for Agriculture to Build Resilience and Transform Food Systems in Ethiopia

Context

Ethiopia’s National Pathway prioritizes 6 game-changing solutions towards food systems transformation, namely credit access and financial literacy for smallholders, steady supply of agricultural inputs and technological access, rural electrification, disaster risk mitigation through insurance schemes, sustainable land reform and resource use.

Ethiopia is strengthening its three-pillar governance structure on food systems: (a) at the federal level, an Inter-Ministerial Steering Committee (IMSC) for food systems and nutrition consisting of 14 Ministries; (b) at the regional level, an inter-bureau steering committee; (c) at the partnership level, Government of Ethiopia and Development Partners’ coordination platform.
