PROJECT TITLE

Rwanda Green Food Future – Accelerating Investment in Food Systems Transformation

Context

Rwanda has made strong progress in food security, yet 17% of households remain food insecure and more than 30% of districts face persistent high stunting levels. Smallholder agriculture faces land scarcity, climate shocks, and significant post harvest losses, while women and youth continue to face structural barriers to land, finance, and technology. Micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) and cooperatives struggle to access credit due to high collateral requirements and limited financial data. The Joint Programme tackles these systemic constraints by deploying climate smart technologies, strengthening local value chains, and catalyzing private investment through blended finance. It anchors transformation in six vulnerable districts with high poverty and malnutrition, using digital tools, inclusive financing, and multi stakeholder platforms aligned with national priorities.
