ASEAN leadership in converging food system policies for resilience, nutrition, and climate ambition

20 November, 14:00 – 15:30 (Belém / GMT-3) - ASEAN Pavillion|COP30

Co-organized by: UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and FAO, ASEAN Climate Resilience Network (ASEAN CRN), and BAPPENAS Indonesia

Food systems contribute significantly to ASEAN economies yet remain highly vulnerable to climate impacts. This event will showcase how ASEAN Member States are advancing coordinated approaches that connect food systems, climate, and biodiversity agendas – from regional policy frameworks to national implementation. Drawing on lessons from the UN Food Systems Summit +4 Stocktake (UNFSS+4) and the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub’s Convergence Initiative, the session will highlight ASEAN’s leadership in integrating food systems into Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and National Biodiversity Strategies and Action Plans (NBSAPs), mobilizing climate finance, and fostering cross-sectoral governance for resilient, inclusive, and sustainable transformation.
