Countries facing conflict, food insecurity and other complex pressures require stronger alignment between multilateral support, national institutions and the local actors closest to food production and consumption. Country-led platforms, producer organizations and community institutions all have an important role in strengthening food security, nutrition and resilience.

Held on the sidelines of CFS54, this side event will explore how action at multilateral, national and local levels connects in practice. Drawing on country experiences, the discussion will examine how multilateral support can align with country priorities, how national platforms can engage local institutions and producer organizations, and how locally led action can inform policy, financing and decision-making.

The event is co-organized by the SUN Movement Secretariat, FAO, the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP), the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, ActionAid International, the Eastern and Southern Africa Small-Scale Farmers’ Forum, AsiaDHRRA, the Global Alliance for the Future of Food and the Global Network Against Food Crises.
