About the event
Following the UN Food Systems Summit +4 (UNFSS+4) in Addis Ababa, this side event at the Committee on World Food Security (CFS53), builds on the Summit’s outcomes to accelerate the implementation of national food systems pathways.
The event brings together governments, UN agencies, civil society, youth networks, and development partners to reflect on how countries are advancing the UN Secretary-General’s Call to Action. The discussion will focus on translating global commitments into concrete results – through stronger partnerships, sustainable financing, inclusive governance, and alignment with CFS policy tools.
At a time of converging crises – from conflict and climate impacts to shrinking fiscal space – countries are seeking integrated approaches that connect food, health, and environment outcomes. The side event provides an opportunity to share lessons from UNFSS+4 and explore synergies with other global processes such as Nutrition for Growth (N4G), the Financing for Development Conference, the World Summit for Social Development, and COP30.
Why it matters
Transforming food systems is essential to achieve the Right to Adequate Food for All and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and partners continue to work with countries across the globe to turn national commitments into action — supporting inclusive, climate-resilient, and nutrition-sensitive approaches that benefit people and the planet.
This side event will highlight practical pathways for collaboration across governments, development partners, private sector, and civil society, fostering the partnerships needed to sustain the momentum of UNFSS+4 and ensure progress continues toward CFS 54 and beyond.
