Food systems are increasingly exposed to climate, economic and conflict-related shocks that disrupt access to fertilizers, energy and other essential agricultural inputs.

This webinar will examine how farmer-led innovation can help reduce dependence on synthetic inputs while strengthening resilience to future crises. The discussion will explore diversified farming systems, including legume rotations, agroforestry, biofertilizers and precision nutrient use, alongside the government policies and financing needed to support their adoption at scale.

The session will focus on three areas for action: financing to address upfront costs and risks; technology and decision-support tools co-designed with farmers; and innovation policies that link farmer-led solutions with national food systems pathways and science-policy processes.

Bringing together members of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and invited experts, the webinar will consider how governments can prepare for future shocks while supporting farmers to build more resilient and less input-dependent food systems.
