10/11/2026

Date: 10 November 2026 | 09:30–10:30 TRT

Location: UN Türkiye Pavilion, COP31, Antalya, Türkiye

Organizers: UN Food Systems Coordination Hub, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), UN Resident Coordinator's Office in Türkiye

Climate change is placing increasing pressure on food production, water resources and rural livelihoods, reinforcing the need for coordinated approaches to food systems transformation, water management and climate action.

As one of the first pilot countries under the Convergence Initiative, Türkiye has developed a Convergence Action Blueprint to strengthen alignment between its National Food Systems Pathway, climate commitments and related national policies. This experience has also informed regional cooperation on the water–food–climate nexus.

Building on the regional workshop Towards COP31: Operationalizing the Water–Food–Climate Nexus, this side event will showcase country experiences and emerging lessons from Türkiye, Central Asia and the Caucasus. Discussions will explore practical approaches to policy convergence, sustainable water management, resource efficiency, food loss and waste reduction, and climate-resilient agrifood systems, while identifying opportunities for continued regional cooperation.
