The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement and the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub have established a new Partnership Collaboration Framework for 2026–2027, combining their reach to help governments deliver food systems that improve nutrition, particularly for the most vulnerable.

The partnership brings together two complementary global platforms. The SUN Movement supports 67 countries and thousands of partners to end malnutrition in all its forms through integrated, multisectoral action, while the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub supports more than 130 countries in translating their national food systems pathways into implementation and accelerating progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The framework builds on the proven strengths of both organizations, combining their experience in food systems transformation and nutrition to amplify support for countries.

Guided by the Hub's new workplan and the SUN 4.0 Strategy, the partnership responds to growing country demand for more coherent and integrated approaches that connect food systems transformation, nutrition, and climate action. It will bring National Food Systems Convenors and SUN Government Focal Points into closer collaboration, helping governments better align policies, coordinate action across sectors, and achieve better nutrition, resilience, and sustainability outcomes.

As countries face intersecting challenges including malnutrition, climate change, conflict, and economic pressures, the partnership will strengthen coordination between the two networks so countries can access more coherent technical support, practical tools, and opportunities for peer learning. Practical examples include:

  • Coordinated country support to design, finance, and implement integrated policies, while identifying and mobilising financing;
  • Facilitating exchanges between SUN regional hubs, Hub regional representatives, and country focal points to share tools, experiences, and emerging practices;
  • Leveraging SUN Focal Points, National Food Systems Convenors, and other high-level government officials as champions for nutrition-sensitive food systems transformation.

By aligning efforts, strengthening partnerships, and promoting country ownership, the SUN Movement and the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub aim to accelerate progress towards the SDGs and ensure that food systems transformation delivers healthier diets, improved nutrition, greater resilience, and sustainable development for all.
