The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub has released a new policy brief titled “Transforming food systems: The power of youth in science-policy-society interfaces,” authored by Dr. Nicole de Paula, Dr. Preetmoninder Lidder, and Astha Banjara under the Hub’s Youth Leadership Programme, with support from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Drawing on recent SPSI pilots in The Gambia, Chad, and Cameroon, the brief  highlights how empowering young professionals in science and policy can strengthen national food systems governance and accelerate progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals.

The brief benefitted from key insights from FAO’s recent Guidance of Science-Policy Interfaces, led by the Office of the Chief Scientist, which bridges research, governance, and community action to make agrifood systems more inclusive, evidence-based, and sustainable.
