Food systems across the Arab region face mounting pressures from climate change, water scarcity and conflict, with significant implications for food security, nutrition and livelihoods. Addressing these interconnected challenges requires stronger coordination across food systems and climate policies, alongside financing and partnerships that respond to different national contexts.
Building on the outcomes of the 4th Arab Regional Food Systems Transformation Meeting, held in Cairo in May 2026, this side event will bring regional priorities to COP31 through the lens of the Triple Cs: Climate, Conflict and Communities.
The discussion will highlight country experiences and lessons from the Convergence Initiative and ESCWA's Nexus Initiative, exploring how national food systems pathways can be better aligned with climate planning and investment. Representatives from financing institutions, the private sector, academia, youth and civil society will examine opportunities to expand locally led solutions, strengthen regional cooperation and advance a coordinated Arab approach to food systems and climate action.
