Hub and UNFSS Coalitions of Action launch Joint Roadmap for 2026-2027
The UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the UNFSS Coalitions of Action have released a new Joint Roadmap for 2026-2027, setting out a shared plan to strengthen collaboration in support of country-led food systems transformation. The Roadmap marks an important next step in how the Hub and the coalitions will work together across advocacy, technical support, knowledge-sharing and coordination.
The Coalitions of Action emerged from the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit as self-organizing, multistakeholder platforms focused on different thematic areas of food systems transformation. They bring together governments, UN entities, research institutions, civil society, philanthropy, private sector actors and others around shared priorities. Since their creation, coalitions have contributed through global advocacy, technical expertise, communities of practice, and direct support to countries advancing their national food systems pathways.

The new Roadmap builds on this experience and sets out a clearer, more structured approach to collaboration. It focuses on strengthening coordination, improving how coalitions connect with national processes, and making it easier to translate global expertise into practical support for countries.
The Roadmap grew out of discussions at the second UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4) in Addis Ababa in July 2025, where the Hub and the coalitions agreed on the need for clearer roles, stronger coordination and a more deliberate partnership going forward. It is aligned with the Hub’s Biennial Work Plan for 2026-2027 and is designed to help coalitions develop offers that respond to country needs, improve in-country coordination, strengthen coherence across agendas, and support collective investment and knowledge exchange.
The plan is organized around three strategic objectives.
- The first is to improve alignment between coalition support and national food systems priorities. This includes regular coalition touchpoints throughout the year, biannual meetings with National Convenors, stronger links between coalition technical assistance and country demand, and pilot policy labs that connect coalition expertise with national priorities. The Roadmap also foresees closer coalition engagement in several of the Hub’s flagship initiatives, including the Convergence Initiative, Youth Leadership Programme, Joint SDG Fund and the Scalable Success Model.
- The second objective focuses on advocacy, communications and knowledge-sharing. It aims to bring coalition work into shared spaces for dialogue and exchange, with more joint publications, policy products, dialogues, webinars and coordinated engagement in regional and global forums. The Roadmap also includes a post-UNFSS+4 advocacy framework and an online tracker to help coalitions signal upcoming engagement opportunities and connect with partners.
- The third objective is about learning and coordination. It includes an annual coalition engagement survey, improved data collection and sharing, updates to the Hub’s coalition database, and a new visualization tool to map coalition engagement at country level. Together, these steps are intended to strengthen how information flows across the ecosystem and support more coordinated action.
At its core, the Joint Roadmap sets out a practical way of working together so that countries can more easily access the knowledge, partnerships and support needed to deliver on their commitments. The Roadmap is now available as a public resource at this link and will guide joint action over the next two years.
